I Went to Church for the First Time in 3 Months
Religion is more of a contractual concept. Yes, true, but so is a relationship. Including the concept of a relationship with Jesus. He’ll always love you, but you won’t reap the benefits until you confess with your mouth that you believe in him.
A contract is not necessarily a tangible agreement with measurable tasks adding up to the other.
A contract is an agreement, a balance, of actions, not a piece of paper; that is just a physical example of it.
So the Christianity contract, in a nutshell, consists of: He loves you, he is offering you eternal and abundant life in exchange of denying yourself (i.e. your “perverted” nature) and picking up your cross to follow him. Believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that he is the Lord and you shall be saved. Sounds an awful lot like an “if-then” train of thought, doesn’t it?
